A couple of weeks ago, Eveline and I started planning our summer holiday. We looked in the books and decided we wanted something tropical this year. The Greek Islands had my interest for the most part, as I always kept great memories from my childhood there. It didn't take us too long to decide which hotel on which Island we liked, and the pricing was even not too bad. It was a hotel on Corfu, so immediately we booked it online since only three rooms were left available. The next day I received a confirmation and it was all set. But then Eveline got the results from her exams, and without having to point out any numbers, the results were horrible. Normally, re-exams would take place from 18 to 22 August. So we scheduled our holiday right after those re-exams, from 25 August to September 1st. The next day, she came home with terrible news. The re-exams have been rescheduled, and guess what - they end up overlapping our holiday period. We could cancel the trip but had already paid €500 in advance. If we would cancel, we'd lose that and that's a considerable amount of money.
The only chance was to reschedule our trip with a bit of good will by JetAir. The only week we could possibly go on a holiday was 6 to 13 July. Any other period was impossible for us due to my mother's holidays and some other things. We called the operatives at JetAir and they were indeed willing to reschedule our trip. But, oh wait. Hotel LTI Gelina Mare? Sorry, that's booked full during that period. The friendly lady told me to look for another hotel and we did. A more expensive one on Rhodos. More expensive, mainly because of the period we're travelling. Mid-July is the most expensive so that sucked. But we booked it anyway, and finally, our holiday is saved. I can't wait to get on that plane to Cor--Oh wait--Rhodos.

In the meantime, my PC has been recovering at the PC-doctor's place. At least, I hope, since I didn't bother to call the shop anymore. The last I heard was that it was taken to the manufacturer for a repair or replacement of the motherboard (y'all remember that do you?).
I tried to find my warrenty but, all hell strike upon me, I couldn't find it. So I didn't bother to contact the shop. Yesterday was the 25th which was the said date my PC would be back. But I called yesterday and they were closed. When I called today, I was told that it might take another week but definitly no longer than that. I hope they're right. I'm willing to pay any cost to that motherboard, as long as I my @"&{ing music folder is untouched. At one point a week ago, I actually started to panic, thinking I'd never ever get a chance to hear some of my songs again! It sounds overdramatic, I know, but to me those songs absolutely mean so damn much! Also, having to build up my entire music collection from scratch, I'm NOT looking forward to that. Let's just keep thinking positive, that my HD is unharmed!

A couple weeks ago I watched a movie with my good friend Svenn, and ever since, it's still playing on and on in my mind. It's strange, I haven't felt the necessity to put so much thought in one single film for a very long time. And the strange thing is, I wasn't even THAT impressed by the movie. We watched Cloverfield, as you all know a hybrid of Blair Witch & Godzilla. To make things clear, the first 15 minutes into the movie were horrible. I've never seen more completely pointless and useless scenes and shots in 15 minutes as I did in Cloverfield. Every time the characters communicate with each other, I'm losing a bit more of my patience, and at the very point that I'm about to stand up in the theatre, and shout really bad words toward the big screen, something extremely cool happens. From that point on, I watched the movie with mixed feelings. The visuals were great. I felt suspense from my toes all the way to my laser-antenne on the top of my head. The shot where our lead characters were running in the midst of the engaging military was spectacular to say the least and completely innovative. The last two movies I watched in the theatre have both shown me shots I had NEVER seen before. 30 Days of Night had at one point a shot where citizens were being torn apart by vampires from a top-down perspective, it was thrilling and spectacular just as the military scene in Cloverfield.

As the movie progressed, more of idiot Hud's lines kept on irritating the shit out of me while my antenne was blasting of excitement at the same time. Clovey, the monster, looked amazing and I was thrilled by the fact that we knew exactly the same as the characters did, which was not much. It was refreshing to see a movie that didn't show the public what they wanted to see in the entire movie. Even when it ended, we still don't know what the fuck just happened and that's exactly how victims of a chaos attack would also feel. Yeah, that's what I felt, I felt like I was in the movie and that's a great accomplishment by the directors.

As I conclude, I notice these two things:
Thumbs up, director & visuals artists
BIIIG thumbs down script writers & actors

The only positive thing about the actors was that they weren't Brad Pitts and Angelina Jolies. A film like this with celebrity faces would totally ruin the whole idea, and so this fact made it bearable and realistic. Do others agree with me that while this film is on one hand a big pile of crap, on the other it is a masterpiece that keeps lingering on and on?

That's about it :P

Also, congrats met regelen van vakantie!

Oh, okay :)
