News - i-view with Infinity

Im talking to Ivan also know as Infinity one of the leading caracters in Fonzie, and one of the people responsible for the creation of PB1 and in the Future PB2.

Could you tell us something about yourself?

I'm Ivan Vriezen AKA Infinity. I'm studying Electrical Engineering in Utrecht, I'm currently 19 years old and situated in Houten (suburb of Utrecht)

What does Fonzie mean to you?

For me Fonzie represents both the group of friends (Machil, Michiel, Ruud, Alex), as well as the gaming clan. Basically I turn into a Fonzie when I turn on my computer ^^
I wouldn’t know what to do without Fonzie, it’s eating up all my spare time and I’m addicted to it. It’s like the D-Devils fourth gate: Once you’re in, there’s no way out!

What is your perception for the future of fonzie, with the merge with w32 and all?

Fonzie used to be a fun clan, it transformed into a ‘pcw’ war clan, and with the combined war-team it’s gonna rock ClanBase. It’s an experienced, dedicated and skilled team.

Are there things that need to change in Fonzie; to make it ready for the big guys?

Definitely: There have to be clear rules, fixed positions, tasks, dedicated war-evenings and we’re gonna need some good tactics. Fortunately, we’ve also got the miracle called Sjeek and he set everything up pretty well!
We’re not going to play for a top rank, but for experience. So we’re planning to compete against clans that compete at the same level of skill we do, maybe even better. Competing at higher level will raise our skill faster than challenging lower skilled clans. So in the end it may even be the fastest way to the top!

How important is friendship in a clan for you?

Fonzie started as a friends-only fun clan, though people started to join Fonzie when we started to shift from ‘fun’ to ‘war’. I’ve met some IRL, and consider them friends. I haven’t met some members IRL yet, but I do play wars with them, and there are a lot of ‘after war’ and ’waiting for opponent’ moments that we spend talking to each other, especially since the introduction of ventrilo. If you play something like 2 wars a day with someone, and talk daily, you’re getting to know each other pretty well.
A year ago, only Domi and I played ClanBase wars. Some of our members resided in two clans, and for a while I considered to join a better clan for wars and play with Fonzie at pubs. I made up my mind and decided to work on Fonzie, it had the potential of becoming a good clan, and above all: I’m playing CS for fun, and it’s way more fun too play with friends than with some elite dorks!

Are there more games played by clan Fonzie, apart from Counter-Strike?

We only play wars in counter-strike. Some weirdo’s are playing Battlefield 1942: Desert combat at the moment, but that’s the only exception I know of. Guere proposed a tactical game a while ago, we’re gonna give that one a shot after Pandora’s Box II is completed.

Clan Fonzie is working on a large movie project as we speak. Are you part of this? And if so; what is you part?

We’re working on the sequel of Pandora’s Box, it’s expected to be released somewhere in the start of April. A trailer will be released somewhere at the end of this month.
My ‘solo’ part is the special feature of the movie, I can’t say what it is (You’ll have to wait for the trailer!), but it is comparable with the part of the helicopter in Militia II: Something you can only dream of when playing counter-strike!

Do you think that after this movie, we can expect more visual creations by clan Fonzie?

Apart from the weekly cheaters movie from Guere , we’re planning to create a fragmovie somewhere mid summer. There’s a rather large chance that the parents of Guere will take a two week vacation, so we can use the house.
As a matter of fact: When I heard we that we could use the house last summer, I proposed that we could make a fragmovie, it was the start of the idea to create a machinima movie; which ended up in the creation of Pandora’s Box.

What was your reaction on the cheater statement a few weeks back?

The first thing I wanted to do was to see it with my own eyes, I watched the demo and concluded that it was possible that Blue used a wall-hack, but I wasn’t 100% certain. This is a snippet of what was playing in my mind: “Blue cheated, no, he couldn’t, but maybe he did, yes he did, but no, he wouldn’t right?” Though I wasn’t sure if he cheated or not, I knew my verdict if he did: A kick/ban from the clan, Fonzie can not tolerate any (ex)-cheaters in the clan. When I watched the movie the opponent made in slow-motion, I was convinced Blue cheated. He’s reaction when we confronted him with the facts also astonished me; he became quiet and said he didn’t trust us anymore. That’s a long way from my reaction if someone would seriously accuse me of cheating!
The thing that still bothers me is that he kept lying until the end, he got busted, ok, but is it so hard to admit and tell the truth? It would have been much easier to accept his ban for some; if he had told the truth.
As for Blue, I’ve never heard anything about him ever since.

Do you think there is gonna be room for a new member after the depart of Blue^?

The war team currently resides ten members, so it’s very unlikely there’s place for a new member.

Something else you like to share with us?

I’m having a great time with Fonzie; I think the war-team can work out to be a success and the same thoughts for Pandora’s Box II.

In the end, the game might change, we’ll grow older, we’ll get jobs, we might get kids, but one way or the other; Fonzie continues to live on!
