I-view met Michiel Sypkens Smit aka Guere
To make the Fonzie site a little bit more attractive,
I held an interview today with Guere.
----------
sjeek: For those who don't know you, will you please introduce yourself?
Guere Hey, my name is Michiel Sypkens Smit (aka Guere on the Internet). I'm 19 years old and study Communication Systems (Academy for Digital Creation) in Utrecht.

sjeek: Can you tell us something about "your" clan Fonzie?
Guere The term Fonzie was conceived some time ago. At the time I was in the same class as Ivan and Machil (Infinity and Octavius). In October 2001 I created a forum where we could just hang around and post messages. After a few lans with the "clan core" (Infinity, Guere, Octavius, Vito), Ivan's brother (Alex, Dominator) joined the crew.
In the summer of 2002 the actual CS clan was started during a Fonzie Lan. Clan Fonzie started a a fun/pub clan but quickly grew into a bigger one.
In late 2003 alot of old W32 clan members joined up with our team. Since then we're playing PCW's on an almost daily basis.
-------------------
sjeek: How active is fonzie? Do they have a warteam? And can other clans challenge you at clanbase/proleague?
Guere At the end of 2002, Infinity and Dominator started playing 2on2 officials at clanbase. Since then we joined the 3on3 ladder, and there have often been plans to start playing clanbase 5on5's too. It just never happend. It's my opinion that we can compete (we'd still have to practice a few maps though), but it just doesn't happen. I think there's just no interest in playing officials, but that can change, and I do hope that will be the case. We did join proleague but we didn't play any wars there. Currently we're actively playing med/high skilled PCW's.
---------------------------

--------------------------
sjeek: That's a pretty high level, are there further plans to play in cups? Or go to a bigger lan?
Guere There's often been talk to play on a higher level. As of yet, there aren't any real plans but as I said before this could change. I don't think Fonzie will have any trouble joining up with a cup (invited / open), but we'll have to want it. There has also been talk about going to bigger lans like Drome or Netgamez (not campzone). Several members have expressed an interest to attend such a lan.
------------------
sjeek: Recently fonzie and blue parted ways. Were there any arguments between members because of this?
Guere There were alot of arguments in the beginning. At the moment I first heard Blue could have been cheating I informed all the core members about this. Almost no one would believe it, but after watching the demo involved it was obvious he did cheat.
-----------------
sjeek: Did you, after your decision, doubt if you had made the right choice?
Guere It's a pity it had to end this way. Blue was, as many people describe him, a real cool guy. But me, along with other "core" members, have totally no respect for people who use cheats. I know Blue is still denying it, but for us it's clear he did cheat. And I'll say it again: It's too bad it had to end this way, but it just did.
------------------
sjeek: Did you ever think about merging your warteam with clan w32's warteam?
Guere Frankly, no. Now that you're saying it, it doesn't sound too far fetched. We'll certainly discuss this in the near future.
---------------
sjeek: I heard that fonzie is busy creating a 2nd Pandora Movie, are you on schedule and when can we view it?
Guere Pandora's Box II: Showdown has indeed been in production for 6 months now. At the current planning, the trailer will be released in 3 weeks (around 22nd of March) to FilePlanet members. This means the trailer will be public to the public in about four weeks. People who helped us work on the movie will probably be able to watch the entire movie earlier. The movie release itself will probably be in April.
--------------------

sjeek: Good luck with the movie! And I hope you'll have alot of fun with Clan Fonzie.
Is there anything you wish to tell your clan mates? A nice message, or a poll?
Guere Thanks. I don't have much more to add except this: It's been fun the last few years and it only seems to get better. After high school we all thought we'd split up but it would seem we only grew stronger. I hope that Fonzie (along with W32 members) will have a good future, both gaming and friendship wise.
thnx for the interview.
-------------- ;p
sjeek: Sounds good
Next time I'll interview another fonzie member or fonzie CS mate.
I hope you enjoyed this interview. Thanks goes out to Michiel/Guere for his time.
